In the period 2003 – 2012 organic area has increased 11times and now represents approximately 3.4 % of the total area used for agriculture in Poland.

Operators:

  • Organic producers - 25 944
  • Organic farms - 26 000
  • Compared to 2013 years increase surface area and number of farms by 10%
  • Organic processors - 312 (processors and traders)
  • Organic importers – 30

The key imported products are processed products, exotic fruits, spring vegetables tea and coffee, dairy products.

Market and trade:

  • Retail sale - EUR 120 million (2011), EUR 146 million (2013)
  • Retail sale forecasts - EUR 175 million (2015)
  • Per capita consumption - EUR 3,8
  • 4% of poles regularly buy organic food

Stores with organic food:

  • Specialized organic shops - about 500
  • Organic products appears in the offer of supermarkets like: Alma, Peter and Paul, Spolem, Lidl, E. Leclerc, Auchan, Real
  • Retail chains – 2:Organic Farm Health - 21 stores - almost a million customers per year
  • The Yellow Emperor - 8 stores in Poland - offer vegetarian products

The market of organic products is growing slowly but continuously. Organic products can now also be found in conventional shops and supermarkets. Other strong market channels are: covered markets, direct sale to consumers, internet shops.
